Enchantment Under the Sea Dance, Class of 1985
August 2023
That’s Almost Funny
A TIME-TRAVELING DANCE PARTY STRAIGHT OUT OF 1985
Guests arrived to find a time machine parked out front—and stepped into a night suspended between decades, nostalgia, and cinematic magic.
Enchantment Under the Sea Dance, Class of 1980 was a private immersive party inspired by the iconic prom scene from Back to the Future, except this time, the story didn’t jump to the ‘50s. It stayed in the electric, big-haired, synth-fueled present of the 1980s, with a soundtrack and experience designed for the ultimate dance-and-screening night.
One Night. One Decade. One Dance Party to Remember.
Dressed as time travelers from the ’80s, guests were welcomed with custom lighting, curated visuals, and a handcrafted sound experience. The night began with a live-mixed 3-hour mixtape of every 1980s classic that mattered (curated by me and mixed by Venezuelan DJ Oscar C), before transitioning into the centerpiece: a 40-minute laser and light-synced dance party built from the best moments of the most iconic tracks of the decade.
Lasers pulsed. Lights danced. And the crowd moved as if they were actually inside the climactic scene of a movie.
From Prom to Projector
After the dance, guests settled into a cozy outdoor cinema setup for a screening of Back to the Future itself, complete with pillows, blankets, a full sweets and treats bar, and professional sound and projection.
Every element was designed with story-first immersion in mind, from the mixtape buildup to the snack curation to the worldbuilding props scattered across the space. One favorite moment? A guest discovering Marty McFly’s wallet in the bathroom, filled with film-accurate easter eggs like the famous disappearing family photo. These details made the night feel like more than a party, it felt like a lived-in movie moment.
Built for Play. Powered by Love.
As Creative and Technical Director, I led the event from concept to execution: designing lighting cues, building the sonic arc, programming the show, overseeing the projection and setup. It was, like all good 1980s stories, a labor of love, a spark of invention, and a gift to the people I care about.
